In the past, people send their messages to their friends and loved ones through snail mails and telegrams. But when computers and the internet was discovered, it made our lives easier. With the help of modern technologies, communicating with our friends and families is just as easy as abc.

Before, people join social networking sites to find their friends or meet new ones. Now, with the developing features of these social networking sites, people are able to chat with their friends instantly even if they are outside the country, share their thoughts, their pictures, videos, and create blogs. It also provides easy access to the daily happenings in the world. Technology has merely connected people from around the globe with just a click and a press on the keyboard.

In November 2010, the Philippines was included in the list of Top 10 Social Network Hubs in Asia. Here are some of the social networking sites that are frequently used by Filipinos.

1. FACEBOOK
  With over 500 million active Facebook users all over the world, this social networking site really rocked the world of social networking. In Facebook, users are able to chat with their friends instantly, post what is on their minds (status), their latest pictures where they can tag their friends and even share them with others, and post videos. Other people may comment or like your posts, and this is what makes Facebook posting more exciting. Facebook also features games and different applications like online quizzes, role playing games, and more. What makes Facebook more popular than other social networking sites is its security. Users may adjust the security of their profiles like block people from viewing their profile and posts, and even prohibit them from liking or posting their comments.

In November, Philippines ranked 6th in the list of countries with the most numbers of Facebook users.


2. YouTube
  Want to upload and share your videos with other people? Go to YouTube. Kept on singing a song but you don't know the lyrics? YouTube has it. Want to download music videos, movie trailers, anime episodes and more videos for FREE? Just download YouTube video downloader and you're set.
 YouTube is a site where users may search for any videos they want to watch like movie trailers, tv episodes which they missed watching at home, or cartoons.  Some Filipinos are also discovered through YouTube like Charice Pempengco who is now an international singer, and Moymoy Palaboy who are now guesting in tv shows and doing commercials or television ads.

 For those who have had enough of posting notes in Facebook, here is the best blogging site for you! In Blogger, online journalists, even the aspiring ones may post their articles and share them where they can have followers or even earn through online advertisements.
According to Google Trends in December, Philippines placed 6th on the terms of Blogger.com or Blogspot.com Google Searches.



4. Twitter
 For those who update their Facebook status ALL THE TIME, Twitter is for you! For those who want to know what their favorite celebrities are doing, Twitter is for you!

 Twitter is a microblogging site where users update or "tweet" about anything like what they're doing and everything under the sun. What makes twitter more exciting is that almost all the celebrities around the world uses this social networking sites where their fans may follow them and get informed on what they're doing like mall tours, concerts, tv guestings, and many more.

 According to a report released by comScore.com in August, Philippines ranked 6th in the countries with most numbers of Twitter users.
