ANIME, MANGA and COMIC

Anime

            The craze is on…!
I’m not that of a fan of these cartoons made in Japan, called “anime”, or animation. But you’ll be captured in their drawings that really look realistic. Before anything else, I’ll give a brief history about anime.

Japanese write the English term "animation" in katakana. The earliest known Japanese animation dates to 1917, and many original Japanese cartoons were produced in the ensuing decades, the characteristic anime style developed in the 1960s—notably with the work of Osamu Tezuka—and became known outside Japan in the 1980s.

Anime, like manga, has a large audience in Japan and recognition throughout the world. Distributors can release anime via television broadcasts, directly to video, or theatrically, as well as online.
Both hand-drawn and computer-animated anime exist. It is used in television series, films, video, video games, commercials, and internet-based releases, and represents most, if not all, genres of fiction. As the market for anime increased in Japan, it also gained popularity in East and Southeast Asia. Anime is currently popular in many different regions around the world. (www.wikipedia.com)

What’s noticeable about Japanese drawings is that they drew things more realistic and with much detail, like for example, in cartoons a character has only four fingers in their hands while in anime, they have five complete with hand details and notice the shadow, right placing of lights in each and every movement of the character and a character’s features are more emphasized. A Japanese’ idea on drawing was I think is more based on real life.
Coloring is added to give eyes, particularly to the cornea, some depth. The depth is accomplished by applying variable color shading. Generally, a mixture of a light shade, the tone color, and a dark shade is used. Cultural anthropologist Matt Thorn argues that Japanese animators and audiences do not perceive such stylized eyes as inherently more or less foreign.
However, not all anime have large eyes. For example, some of the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Toshiro Kawamoto are known for having realistically proportioned eyes, as well as realistic hair colors on their characters.

Manga and Comics
Manga and comics are somewhat alike in a way that they have either a picture or a cartoon strip and dialog boxes that tell either a joke or a serious context about a certain political or social status.. But can differ in some aspects in it’s context or contents. It can be humorous or serious like politically and socially inclined.

Manga is the Japanese word for "comics/cartoons" and consists of comics and print cartoons (sometimes also called komikku). In the West, the term "manga" has been appropriated to refer specifically to comics created in Japan, or by Japanese authors, in the Japanese language and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 19th century.

Comics (from the Greek of or pertaining to comedy" from "revel, komos" denotes a hybrid medium having verbal side of its vocabulary tightly tied to its visual side in order to convey narrative or information only, the latter in case of non-fiction comics, seeking synergy by using both visual (non-verbal) and verbal side in interaction. (www.wikipedia.com)

Manga and Comics has wide varieties of medium. Manga on publication of books for the young consumers and Comics in newspapers like broadsheets and tabloids.

In modern days, these kinds of arts have their use these days. Manga’s for example are used now to show the variety of imagination through the use of cartoons and dialog boxes then compiled into a book, mostly manga’s are self-realization. While comics are often use in tabloids and broadsheets. Some for entertainment and others are to ridicule someone humorously by use of a drawing and again a dialog box.

I guess whatever they may be, people from all parts of the world are fond of it and can’t stop the trending craze.
